Complete Identity Verification at a Post Office

You will receive a code after submitting your application. Take this code, your ID, and two proofs of address to a participating Post Office. Verify your identity in person and pay the SIA licence application fee.

Pass the SIA Identity & Background Check

The SIA will carry out identity and criminal background checks. If you have lived in the UK for fewer than five years, you may need to provide additional documents such as a police clearance certificate from your home country.

Receive Your Door Supervisor Licence

Once approved, your SIA Door Supervisor Licence will be posted to you. It is valid for three years and can be renewed before expiry to continue working in the private security industry.

Door Supervisor Licence Renewal

Your SIA Door Supervisor Licence does not renew automatically. You must complete refresher training and apply to renew it before expiry to continue working in the industry.
