The four main SIA training courses

The course you take depends entirely on the security role you want to work in. There are four primary routes:

How long do the courses take?

At Secure X Premium, the Door Supervisor Course runs over 6 days and the CCTV Operator training over 3 days, both scheduled from 09:30 to 18:30. Every course includes classroom instruction, physical activity components (ACT), and all required assessments — with no additional fees for those elements.

What documents do you need to enrol?

For any SIA training course at Secure X Premium, you must bring the following on your first day. These are required to verify your identity and submit your licence application to the SIA:

  • Valid photo ID (passport or driving licence)
  • Proof of address (recent utility bill or bank statement)
  • Passport-sized photographs

Some theory elements can be completed via blended learning (online), but the physical intervention components of the Door Supervisor course and the practical assessments must be done in person. Fully online SIA courses do not meet the qualification requirements.
Yes. You must be at least 18 years old to apply for an SIA licence in the UK. Some training providers will accept 17-year-olds onto courses, but cannot submit your licence application until you turn 18.
No prior security experience is required for Door Supervisor or Security Guard courses. Close Protection courses, however, typically require candidates to have prior military, police, or security experience, and many London providers enforce this as an entry requirement.
