SIA Door Supervisor Refresher / Top-Up Training
From 1st April 2025, a Refresher qualification is required for all existing SIA-licensed Door Supervisors applying to renew their licence. This requirement also applies to those who have not recently worked in the industry or have not performed any Door Supervisor duties since obtaining their licence.

Entry Requirements
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English (speaking, reading, and writing)
• Must hold a valid Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification:
– Level 3 RQF/QCF or Level 6 SCQF
– Must be valid for at least 12 months from the course start date
• Learners without a valid First Aid certificate must choose the package that includes First Aid, as it is mandatory
• Must complete ACT (Action Counter Terrorism) eLearning – guidelines will be provided by the centre

Course Content (Two Key Units)

1. Principles of Working as a Door Supervisor in the Private Security Industry (Refresher)
• Conducting effective search procedures
• Safeguarding vulnerable people
• Understanding and responding to terror threats
• Preventing incidents of spiking

2. Application of Physical Intervention Skills in the Private Security Industry (Refresher)
• Legal implications of physical intervention
• Risks and how to manage them
• Applying safe, effective self-defense techniques
• Performing non-pain compliant standing, holding, and escorting methods

Self-Study Materials
• Free, high-quality online study materials provided
• Learners must review materials and complete the workbook prior to attending the classroom training

Assessment & Exam
• Assessment includes multiple-choice exams and practical demonstrations
• All tests are externally set and marked by the Awarding Organisation
• Free retakes offered if a learner does not pass on the first attempt

Certification
• Certificates are issued within 7–10 working days after successful completion
• Once certified, learners may apply for licence renewal through the SIA
