Level 2 SIA Door Supervisor Course

The Level 2 Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry is a mandatory qualification for anyone wishing to work as a Door Supervisor in the UK. According to the Private Security Industry Act (2001), individuals working in certain private security roles must hold a valid licence issued by the Security Industry Authority (SIA). A licence-linked qualification, such as this Level 2 Award, is required to obtain a Door Supervisor licence. This licence is necessary when carrying out manned guarding activities on licensed premises—places open to the public where alcohol is supplied for consumption or regulated entertainment is provided. Exceptions include roles that only involve CCTV operation, cash and valuables in transit, or close protection.

How Will This Course Benefit Me?

At Securex Premium Services, we provide comprehensive Level 2 SIA Door Supervisor training that covers all competencies required by the SIA. Upon completing the course, you will become eligible to apply for your SIA Door Supervisor licence. You will learn safe working practices essential to Door Supervisors and Security Guards. The training is delivered by an approved and experienced provider to ensure you receive quality education.

Course Requirements

Students must have a minimum English Level 1 in reading, writing, and speaking. They must provide one form of photo ID such as a passport and two proofs of address, including recent bank statements, utility bills, or council tax bills. All students must hold a valid Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) certificate, which must be valid for at least 12 months. If students do not have an EFAW certificate, they can choose a course package that includes First Aid training, as it is a mandatory SIA requirement. Link below:

Course Units
The SIA Door Supervisor Training covers the following four essential units:

Unit 1: Working in the Private Security Industry
This unit covers the legal aspects of private security, health and safety, fire safety awareness, emergency procedures, communication skills, and customer care.

Unit 2: Working as a Door Supervisor
You will learn about civil and criminal law, behavioural standards, recording incidents and preserving crime scenes, search procedures, arrest procedures, drug awareness, and licensing law.

Unit 3: Conflict Management
This unit focuses on how to avoid conflict, reduce personal risk, defuse confrontations, resolve incidents, and communicate effectively in high-pressure situations.

Unit 4: Physical Intervention Skills
You will be introduced to safe and legally compliant physical intervention techniques, including standing holds, escorting methods, and the laws surrounding physical contact.

Assessment Methods

Assessment is through multiple-choice tests that are externally set and marked by the Awarding Body. The assessments align with SIA requirements and standards for each unit.

Certification

After successfully passing the assessments, students will receive their certificate within 7 to 12 working days. This certificate allows them to apply for their SIA Door Supervisor licence. If a student does not pass the exam on the first attempt, Securex Premium Services offers one free resit.

Licence Cost

After certification, students must pay £184 to the SIA Home Office to apply for their licence. The licence is typically processed within 25 working days and is valid for 3 years.
