The SIA CTV Operator Course aims at developing skills and knowledge that are necessary for those who wish to obtain a valid CCTV operative license. This course enables a learner to take further courses such as door supervisory and security guarding.
Eligibility For The Course:
A learner must have attained the age of 18 or above and have obtained or have a minimum English LEVEL 1 language skills OR B1 Level or Level 1 at ESOL. Along with this, it is mandatory to provide one ID (An identity document like a passport and the second is to have two proofs of address).
Duration Of The Course:
The SIA CCTV operator course is spanned over a period of three (3) days it is also important to mention here there should be a minimum of 23 guided and contact hours to maintain the learning hours between the trainer and the learners. It also depends on distance learning as well.

Unlike the door supervision course, the CCTV operator course is comprised of the following three (3) units:

Working Within The Private Security Industry.
This is considered to be the introductory module that will describe the basics and fundamental concepts of the private security industry. The main features of the first unit are:
- Private Security Industry.
- The Legal Aspect.
- Health & Safety.
- Fire Safety Awareness.
- Emergency Procedures.
- Communication Skills.
- Customer Services.
2. Working As A CCTV Operator Within The Private Security Industry.
The second unit is more of an in-depth look into the system of how the private security industry works and what a learner can expect. The following are the core subjects to be taught in this unit:
- CCTV Code of Practices.
- Operational Procedures & Guidelines.
- Concepts of Relevant Legislation.
- Importance of Communication.
- Emergency Procedures.
- Functions of CCTV system.
- Health & Safety CCTV Control Room.
3. Practical Operation Of CCTV Equipment Within The Private Security Industry.
As far as the practicality of the course is concerned, Unit 3 hops in to make sure of the practical applicability of the CCTV operator course. This unit is exactly when a learner takes control of a CCTV system. This unit will actually teach a learner about the usage of CCTV systems.
Assessment & Examination:
Right after the completion of the course, an examination and assessment are undertaken by the Security Industry Agency to evaluate the learners’ capabilities and eligibility for getting the license.
The assessment of the learner is marked completed after undergoing two examinations and a practical assessment. A valid CCTV operator license is awarded to everyone who passes the examination and assessment thereof.
LICENSE COST:
Once you Qualify and receive Certification, you have to apply and pay £184 to the SIA Home office to obtain a license.
